I’m so honored to share some photos from my wonderful friend’s wedding. It was a beautiful, warm October day for Katie and Rob to exchange vows in a beautiful garden overlooking green fields with blue water in the distance…. The entire day couldn’t have been lovelier. While I don’t normally do wedding photography, I couldn’t turn down the offer to be there for my friends. And I am so glad I did. :)

I’ve been watching summer go by every day from the beautiful picture window in my office, but it’s quickly approaching September and I’ve been missing out on experiencing it. So, when I woke up this morning and saw that the sun on what was supposed to be a rainy day I jumped at the chance to just unwind and breathe in some salty, summery air. Happiness can be so simple sometimes….

I was waiting in line at Stop and Shop recently and happened to spy this display of Old Spice products… Now, my first reaction was to their beautiful, colorful redesign, as it’s been years since I last looked at their products. But, on closer inspection, I noticed the Scratch N’ Sniff label, which I thought was just brilliant! Not only was it functional, but it also had an element of nostalgia that brought me back to being a kid again. Oh yeah, and when I scratched it, it smelled really good. :)

So, I was on a sandbar off the coast of Plymouth over the weekend and while the whole adventure was tons of fun, one part was very inspiring… I ended up taking a stroll all along the edge of the sandbar just as the tide was starting to come back in. It was beautiful. Not just “look at that pretty sunset” beautiful, but truly a wealth of small wonders. Often all the inspiration we need in life can be found in nature, and this was just another example of that. My favorite find was this guy — a snail. I’m used to seeing them all tucked up in their shells, so watching this little guy cruise along the sand in about 6 inches of water was fascinating to me. It was simply one of those moments that makes you appreciate nature in all of its wonder.

I’d like to say that I haven’t been keeping up with my blog because I’ve been too busy cooking delicious things like this Cinnamon Sugar Pull-Apart Bread from Annie’s Eats, but actually things here at Thumbnail Designs have just been too busy! So, I’m making an effort to work on a better balance of life in general — including more posts on my blog which I love to do, and taking the time for more homemade foods like this…

Mom and I spent a lovely afternoon buying some herbs and veggies for her garden on Mother’s Day. While there are plenty of large chains around for buying plants, we didn’t hesitate in going to our favorite off the beaten path location — The Salem Herbfarm. We’ve been visiting them yearly for the past few years and always in awe at everything they offer. Not only are the plants healthy and beautiful, but their shop has so many adorable items. It’s definitely worth the visit!
And since I don’t have a garden yet (but hopefully soon!) I went around snapping pictures of all of my favorite flowers for future planning/planting. Looking at them afterwards, apparently I am very drawn to orange and purple flowers. (And on a side note, these pictures were shot with my iphone — not perfect, but I was pretty impressed with the clarity).
Anyhow, enjoy the pics and make plans to visit the Herbfarm soon!

I got to spend yesterday with my niece and her fiance at the beautiful Harkness Park in Waterford. That’s where Greg had proposed to Megan last year so we decided to shoot their engagement pictures there. It was a fun afternoon and felt great to get out there and use my camera! Can’t wait for their wedding this summer! :)

Another Etsy find that I just have to share. So incredibly sweet, too. “Artist & poet, Fréya Eté creates work with a purity of vision and a forever optimistic view of the world. Her quirky, heart warming and thought provoking pieces are much loved and sought after and held in many public and private collections around the world.”
Visit her Etsy shop to see all of her work — I had too many ‘favorites’ to choose from!
