The Cyberoptix TieLab!

Posted by admin on Oct 15, 2009 in Artists, Fashion, Great Finds

I’m so excited to share these ties with everyone — they were one of my favorite items that I sold in my gallery. Bethany Shorb hand-screens designs onto ties and the results are eye-catching and beautiful! What a great way to express your own personality, while still fitting in with the dress code. There are way too many designs to show here so check out her Etsy shop!

Fiesta Time!

Posted by admin on Aug 31, 2009 in Artists, Entertaining, Great Finds

Found these wonderful fiesta-inspired pieces on Etsy.com today! They’re from Clayswan’s shop and the colors just make me smile. She really sums it up in her Etsy profile, “The work is functional and playful, it is meant to be used, enjoyed … basically, make you happy ~ have fun!” Who wouldn’t want to enjoy eating with these?

Data = Beautiful

Posted by admin on Aug 23, 2009 in Great Finds, design

When I think of statistics and data I instantly cringe with thoughts from my college class on the subject. If only they had taught me how to visually interpret data and stats. Then maybe I would have enjoyed waking up at 7 for my 8am class.

From the Wed Design Ledger, “Data Visualization is a method of presenting information in a graphical form. Good data visualization should appear as if it is a work of art. This intrigues the viewer and draws them in so that they can further investigate the data and info that the graphic represents.”

In other words, it’s smart art. Enjoy these examples below that the WDL gathered, and click here to view all 15 examples they had posted. Just beautiful.

Brilliant!

Posted by admin on Aug 5, 2009 in Artists, Great Finds, design

Stumbled across this artist today and just had to add him to the blog… Check out Cardon Copy, the project of artist Cardon Webb. And here’s what it’s all about, in his own words:

CARDON COPY, TAKES THE VERNACULAR OF SELF-DISTRIBUTED FLIERS AND TEAR-OFFS WE HAVE ALL SEEN IN OUR NEIGHBORHOODS. IT INVOLVES HIJACKING THESE UNCONSIDERED FLIERS AND REDESIGNING THEM, OVER POWERING THEIR MESSAGE WITH A NEW VISUAL LANGUAGE. I THEN REPLACE THE ORIGINAL WITH THE REDESIGN IN ITS AUTHENTIC ENVIRONMENT.

 Here are some great examples… Visit the site to see more!

I have spent too much time reading all of these New Math equations by Craig Damrauer! Check out his site — but make sure you have plenty of time because once you start clicking you’re going to want to keep clicking!

My cats are going to love these!

Posted by admin on Mar 23, 2009 in Cats!, Decorating, Great Finds

I have to add this to my shopping list — for my kitties! (I have five!!) They will love these, although I think I may be the one who’s entertained by watching them in their Cat Playhouses! Check them out at www.suck.uk.com! While you’re there, you have to check out the Villain Chair! That’s where I’ll be sitting as I watch my cats play with tanks. Purrfect.
