Well, I admit, Thumbnail Designs has been slacking on our blog… but, for good reason! We’ve been so busy with design work that all our energy has gone into the new websites and print work that have been rolling out… For example, check out our latest website for Dubois Interiors! When Lu Dubois says her company offers “Premier Furnishings for the Design Community” she’s not kidding — her style is impeccable! To view more about her work, and to check out our design work, click here!

Buy a beautiful calendar and support 7 connecticut animal shelters! The calendars are 11.5″ square, with each month featuring a different animal from one of the seven shelters: Forgotten Felines, Majestic Waterfowl Sanctuary, Ray of Light Farm, Greener Pastures Rescue, Pet Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), Old Lyme Animal Control, and Yesterday’s Kittens. It’s a modern-style calendar printed on individual pages and meant to be clipped and hung on the wall (clips and nails provided).
Well, my letterpress is finally assembled! So excited! Sending out a huge “thanks!” to John Falstrom at Lyme Letterpress Studio! Can’t wait to start printing on this great machine! And the kitties are pretty excited about it, too!
You have to check out this gorgeous work by Greg Gallegos of Natural Selection Studio! As quoted on his Etsy shop page, “The wood turnings created by Greg Gallegos of Natural Selection Studio are absolutely timeless.” Definitely putting a couple of these on my wish list! Visit their Etsy shop and check them out!

When I think of statistics and data I instantly cringe with thoughts from my college class on the subject. If only they had taught me how to visually interpret data and stats. Then maybe I would have enjoyed waking up at 7 for my 8am class.
From the Wed Design Ledger, “Data Visualization is a method of presenting information in a graphical form. Good data visualization should appear as if it is a work of art. This intrigues the viewer and draws them in so that they can further investigate the data and info that the graphic represents.”
Stumbled across this artist today and just had to add him to the blog… Check out Cardon Copy, the project of artist Cardon Webb. And here’s what it’s all about, in his own words:
CARDON COPY, TAKES THE VERNACULAR OF SELF-DISTRIBUTED FLIERS AND TEAR-OFFS WE HAVE ALL SEEN IN OUR NEIGHBORHOODS. IT INVOLVES HIJACKING THESE UNCONSIDERED FLIERS AND REDESIGNING THEM, OVER POWERING THEIR MESSAGE WITH A NEW VISUAL LANGUAGE. I THEN REPLACE THE ORIGINAL WITH THE REDESIGN IN ITS AUTHENTIC ENVIRONMENT.
I have spent too much time reading all of these New Math equations by Craig Damrauer! Check out his site — but make sure you have plenty of time because once you start clicking you’re going to want to keep clicking!
….with Tennessee yet, but this website might just give me a change of heart! I absolutely love the background! Bravo to the Tennessee Department of Tourist Development and to Designsensory for developing such a great site! Maybe it’s time for a road trip?
